How a Chrome Hearts Bracelet Led to a Vintage Patek Philippe
Some of the best deals happen naturally.
Recently, a client came into AVNTGRDNY looking through our selection of Chrome Hearts bracelets. During the conversation, I noticed a small portion of the watch case on his wrist and immediately asked him, “Is that a vintage Patek Philippe?”
For a second, I was hesitant to ask. If I was wrong, I would have looked foolish. But I’ve been collecting watches for around 10 years and something about the shape and profile immediately stood out to me.
He smiled and showed me the watch — and the moment I saw it, I fell in love with it.
What drew me in immediately was how understated it was. When most people think of Patek Philippe, they picture the well-known modern references everyone talks about online. This was different. Slim case, elegant proportions, blue dial, and incredibly low key. The type of watch that quietly speaks for itself without needing attention. That has always been right up my alley as both a collector and someone who appreciates timeless design.
A Trade Built Organically
The client was particularly interested in one of our Chrome Hearts Floral ID Bracelets with ruby accents. We originally had the bracelet priced at $8,500, but the client mentioned he did not want to spend more than $6,000 total.
After talking through the numbers and appreciating both pieces for what they were, we proposed a trade involving the bracelet plus cash toward the Patek Philippe.
The client took a day to think about it before ultimately agreeing to the trade.
The Details Matter
One thing that made this particular watch even more appealing was how complete and well-preserved it was. The watch came with the original box, papers, and service card — all details collectors appreciate seeing.
Cosmetically, the watch was in pristine condition aside from a small scratch on the crystal. Over the years, I’ve seen examples of this reference with heavily damaged dials, overpolished cases, or signs of neglect, so finding one in this condition made the trade even more special to me.
Before finalizing the transaction, we also brought the watch to be inspected for authenticity, movement condition, and timekeeping performance. Everything checked out exactly as it should.
